ITINERARY OVERVIEW

TOKYO

DAY 1 – YOU’VE ARRIVED

There is no city quite like Tokyo. As soon as you land, you’ll be greeted and transferred by private car to modernist icon the Okura Tokyo to settle in as you anticipate the magical journey that awaits you.

DAY 2 – WAKING UP IN TOKYO

As the group gathers for breakfast, we get a chance to properly meet Amanda and each other. Amanda has said that “shopping is how I get my bearings” – so today we dive into Tokyo by taking you on a curated shopping tour of the city. Taking in local districts, obscure stores and some the places that Tokyo is famous for. We’ll regroup for a welcome dinner at a local favourite.

DAY 3 – CAMERA EATS FIRST

Today is all about food – the real and the not-so-real. We visit a fake food factory and workshop and find out how these incredible selling tools are created. We experience lunch at a hidden sushi restaurant.

DAY 4 – CULTURAL DELIGHTS

Today we explore the modern culture of Tokyo with visit to the incredible installation of TeamLab and a local studio visit. We visit the Mori Gallery and spend the afternoon shopping amongst the incredible architecture of Ginza. Our 4 days in Tokyo culminate with an incredible group dinner.

DAY 5 – HISTORIC KYOTO

Today we move on to one of Japan’s oldest cities, Kyoto. Experiencing the Shinkansen (bullet train) is an absolute must when visiting Japan – we travel from Tokyo to Kyoto by this method. Following our arrival in Kyoto – we take a walking tour of the local area, including the Imperial Palace ahead of a group dinner.

DAY 6 – THE EYE MUST TRAVEL

Today we are reminded why Amanda loves Japan so much… The contrasts, the rich culture, the people – it’s a confluence that makes it like no other place. We explore the temples, parks and streets of Kyoto. The group enjoys a final dinner where we reflect on what are sure to be incredible memories.

DAY 7 – JOURNEY CONCLUDES

Take your time enjoying the sublime surroundings of the Sowaka Ryokan as you prepare for your onward journey. Joel Found has pre-arranged transfers to Kyoto airport or station as we say goodbye to Amanda’s Japan.
